Dr. Callie Montez, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Callie Montez, MD is a licensed and board-certified Adult Psychiatrist. She grew up in a small city in Southern Colorado. As a psychiatrist, she believes in shared and inclusive decision making, taking time to include the patient in their treatment options, and explaining the diagnosis, treatment, and process. She is passionate about the need to alleviate the stigma associated with mental health and recalls the moment in medical school when she chose to go into psychiatry because a sign was up in the hospital stating, “There is no health without mental health.” Dr. Montez strives to make patients comfortable during their visit and encourages them to value and prioritize their mental health treatment just as any other body system. She completed college at the University of Colorado, in Boulder. Then went on to earn her medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska in 2013. She then completed her residency at The University of Texas Health San Antonio in 2017. Previously, Dr. Montez gained valuable clinical experience practicing psychiatry at University Health System, Department of Veterans Affairs, San Antonio Military Medical Center working with active-duty military patients, and then CentroMed Community Health Center in San Antonio, Texas. She enjoys outpatient psychiatry as she gets to know her patients and witness their journey and progress. She has a fondest toward treating various anxiety disorders such as OCD, PTSD, Depression, and ADHD.
Something interesting about Dr. Montez, is that she can tap dance, and used to do it competitively. She is a big sports fan with favorite teams being the Spurs and Broncos. She loves live music! While living in San Antonio, gardening was one of her favorite hobbies. She loves dogs and actually has 2, and lately Dr. Montez enjoys being a mommy and watching her daughter grow.
