Christie Shanafelt, DO
Staff Physician
Dr. Christie Shanafelt is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine that is passionate about caring for families within the context of their cultures and communities. In addition to providing preventative care for patients, Dr. Shanafelt engages in community-level policy changes for those she serves. In 2011, she helped organize the Tarrant County Food Policy Council, which was created to “collaborate with representatives of all aspects of Tarrant County’s food system to catalyze creative solutions for ensuring equitable access to sufficient, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods, and to advocate for local food policies that support this goal.” Dr. Shanafelt is board certified in Family Practice, and studied at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Shanafelt recently moved from Queens, New York, back to Texas. After living in five different states, she’s happy to call her favorite state—Texas—home.
